DuBois et fils completes capital increase and presents a collection of six watches
Black steel: Oldest watch factory in Switzerland presents new family of models
Le Locle, 3rd April 2013 – The oldest watch manufacturer in Switzerland, DuBois et fils (www.duboisfils.ch), has finally opened a new chapter in its company history. Following successful crowdfunding which resulted in 600 new shareholders, the company’s capital increase has legally entered into effect. Production of the watches has already begun – the names ‘concept ONE’ and ‘concept TWO’ of the first concept drawings and prototypes have given way to series designations DBF001 and DBF002. Both models will initially be available in three versions each; the stainless steel housings will also be available with a black coating for one version of each. This diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating not only gives the housing a deep black colour, it also makes it highly scratch-resistant and resilient – in addition to the unusual appearance.
The needle-etched face of the DBF001 is available in silver, black and anthracite. The automatic watch with second, 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph functions is based on the Dubois Dépraz 4500 module calibre with a power reserve of 44 hours. The distinctive and easy to read large date display under the 12 hour index is surrounded by a polished frame. The total diameter of the stainless steel 316L watch is 41.5 millimetres. The DBF002, at 42 millimetres, is also suitable for sports: the watch, accented by orange elements, is reminiscent of the 70s. Long-glowing orange Superluminova material is applied to the needle-etched face and hands. The multi-part housing has both polished and brushed sections and displays a striking sunburst on the bezel. An ETA 7750 movement ticks away inside.
The three hands of the stopwatch function are painted red. The face is available in black or in silver offset by black totalisers. The wristband of vulcanised rubber highlights the sporty and sturdy appearance – and is even more eye-catching in the black DLC-coated housing. It brings racing to life and, next to the DBF001, the watch shows the creative range of the new collection. DuBois CEO Thomas Steinemann is pleased by the great interest in the watches, from both clients and dealers, saying: “Following the great crowdfunding success, our shareholders and clients are also excited by and convinced of our models. This provides further confirmation of our plans – we are already working on further models which we will present in the next few weeks.”
