17. December 2015 – The Diplomatic Council, a United Nations accredited global think thank, has announced the nominees for its “DC Global Media Innovator”. Once a year, the Diplomatic Council gives exclusive credit to the global protagonist of media, technology and platform convergence with the most impact on the future media-driven society. The first awarding ceremony is going to take place at the Diplomatic Council All Nations Gala on January 25, 2016.
Internationally leading media analysts have compiled a suggestion list with 14 candidates and have selected 5 nominees out of the list. The nominees are the streaming providers V-Nova, Invidi and Giraffic, a project of of the Harvard University. Besides Livestream, a type of “YouTube for live events”, Voxtel-8 is also amongst the nominees, a developer of 3D printers.
Dieter Brockmeyer, Chairman DC Global Media Forum, explains: „The nominees are exemplary for disruption and convergence which both have a key influence on the development of the media sector. Disruptive business models, which unite formerly separated media and technology, determine the future. The high share of US companies is remarkable when researching the best innovations in the media sector. This demonstrates the strength of the American start-up and investment system, which is far more advanced than many systems in other parts of the world”. At its DC Gala on January 25, 2016 the Diplomatic Council is introducing a new DC Funding Program, which aims at bringing together start-ups and innovators all over the world with investors from all over the world. One focus of the projects will be on new media technology.
The Diplomatic Council Global Media Forum, organisator of this internationally acknowledged prize, has established a board of leading media analysts worldwide to forecast the future of the media landscape. Members of this board are: Robin Eckermann, Principal Robin Eckermann & Associates in Canberra, Jo Groebel, Director Deutsches Digital Institut in Berlin, David Mercer, Vice President/Principal Analyst, Strategy Analytics in Milton Keynes, Rebecca Lieb, Speaker and Consultant in New York, and Ian Weightman, Vice President Research and Operations, IHS Inc. (IHS Technology) in Austin/Texas.
