The award will be presented at the DC Gala on January 25th in Frankfurt, Germany
January, 18, 2016 – The Diplomatic Council (DC, www.diplomatic-council.org), a United Nations accredited think tank, will name the British corporation V-Nova (www.v-nova.com), a leading provider of video compression solutions, as its first “DC Global Media Innovator”. Once a year, the Diplomatic Council gives exclusive credit to a media, technology and platform convergence company that has had the biggest impact on the future media-driven society. The first award ceremony will take place at the Diplomatic Council All Nations Gala on January 25, 2016, in Frankfurt, Germany (www.diplomatic-council.org/gala2016).
The Diplomatic Council Global Media Forum has established a board of leading media analysts worldwide to forecast the future of the media landscape. Members of this board are: Buddhi K. Athauda, DC Founding President, Robin Eckermann, Principal Robin Eckermann & Associates in Canberra, Jo Groebel, Director Deutsches Digital Institut in Berlin, David Mercer, Vice President/Principal Analyst, Strategy Analytics in Milton Keynes, Rebecca Lieb, Principal Conglomotron in New York and Ian Weightman, Vice President Research and Operations, IHS Inc. (IHS Technology) in Austin/Texas.
The DC experts board explains its vote for V-Nova: “V-Nova is notable because it takes an approach to video compression which differs fundamentally from the MPEG-type approaches which have dominated digital video for the past 20 years or so. This allows for a significant step forward in video network efficiency. The company’s PERSEUS technology allows firms to significantly improve the performance of video streaming over all types of network and for all levels of video quality. The reason for V-Nova’s importance is that video performance will remain one of the most challenging aspects of media delivery over the coming years, in all regions and across all networks.”
Dieter Brockmeyer, Chairman DC Global Media Forum at the Diplomatic Council thanks all board members: “The board has done extraordinary work to start the Global Media Innovator this year. Out of 14 suggestions globally, the board picked five nominees: they included V-Nova, Invidi, Giraffic, Livestream and Voxtel-8. In the end, and despite strong US-based competition, the winner is a European media technology startup. The DC presidents, ambassadors, chairs, directors, board members and all members of the Diplomatic Council say congrats to the winner V-Nova!“
Guido Meardi, CEO and co-founder at V-Nova, added: “Being recognised by the Diplomatic Council as the most innovative media and technology company in the world less than a year after our launch is a significant honour which we sincerely thank the Council for. From the start, we set out to address the global explosion of video traffic and to close the gap between capacity needs and legacy compression development without the need to wait for infrastructure upgrades. Our ground-breaking PERSEUS signal compression technology processes data and video in new ways so they can be transported, stored and secured, faster and more cost effectively, enabling a new generation of services to emerge.”
The innovator will receive an exclusive award from the world-renowned Belgian-German artist Ulrike Bolenz. Bolenz’ work has been exhibited at the European Parliament, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Moscow and the Smithonian Art Council in New York (www.Ulrike.Bolenz.de). The artist will be attending the gala.
V-Nova is at the heart of digitalisation, serving multiple industry segments, including TV and media, aerospace, security, medical imaging, financial institutions, gaming and videoconferencing. Developed to solve the shortcomings of existing compression technology, V-Nova’s PERSEUS is software-based and designed from the ground-up to offer a step-change in performance. PERSEUS seamlessly integrates with existing industry standards, hardware ecosystems and workflows and runs on commercially available, off-the-shelf hardware. It reduces CAPEX and OPEX costs for everyone transporting and storing large amounts of data.
