Fit Testing: Leading Experts RPA and TSI help to increase awareness in the UK
- One day seminars with hands-on fit testing demonstrations
- Feb 10th, May 7th, Oct 13th, and Nov 12th (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, February 5th, 2015 – Respiratory Protective Assessment Ltd. (RPA), an independent Fit2Fit accredited fit testing specialist are teaming-up with TSI to share their experience in the field of employee respiratory protection during four seminars in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in 2015.
Seminar attendees can expect to gain an insight into respiratory protection and respirator fit testing as well as an understanding of the fit testing guidance under UK Health & Safety Guidance (HSE 282/28). The seminars will also include a ‘hands-on’ session where attendees will be able to try out the latest fit testing equipment. The fit test seminars will utilise the broad knowledge of Fit2Fit accredited members Karen Long and Claire Baker of RPA together with the world leading fit test technology from TSI.
Occupational groups in areas such as Manufacturing, Healthcare, Construction, Emergency Services and many others, depend on properly fitting respirators for protection from respiratory hazards. Not everyone’s face is the same and it is unlikely that one size or model of respirator will be sufficient to provide an adequate fit to a whole workforce; selecting the wrong size could cause the respirator face seal to leak during use, exposing the user to respiratory hazards. A respirator fit test involves using specially designed equipment to monitor the fit of a respirator to a wearer’s face during a series of pre-defined exercises, such as moving the head or talking out loud. A competent fit test operator can then use this information to identify a poorly fitting respirator and assess whether a specific make, model and size of mask is suitable for an individual wearer.
TSI will be showing their TSI PortaCount quantitative respirator fit tester which is able to fit test all types of masks, from full face masks to half face masks and disposables.
RPA (www.face-fit.co.uk) have been fit testing in the UK since 1999 and are accredited by the British Safety Industry Federation’s Fit2Fit scheme for both the Qualitative and Quantitative (TSI PortaCount) fit testing methods. Their team have extensive knowledge and experience in RPE Fit Testing and will be on hand to provide advice and answer questions throughout each day.
