A lot of money can be saved when replacing worn combine harvester rotors or defective ball races
Königsbrunn, 12th August 2014 – Whether it’s aeroplanes or agricultural machinery – operators can only earn money when they are fit for service. And that is often reliant on individual components which must be completely replaced even in the event of partial damages. Combine harvester parts manufacturer PW Parts (www.pwparts.de), based near Augsburg, has recognised this: the company’s engineers are improving existing parts and thereby making the maintenance of combine harvesters simpler and previously expensive repairs cheaper. The internet shop permits direct orders of common wear parts for every brand of combine harvester. Many manufacturers use rotors which are very susceptible to damage or worn ball races during harvesting operations. “In that case the entire rotor, including all of the welded ball races, is usually replaced, with the rotor itself costing just under 2,000 euro. Alternatively, the ball races can be removed and re-welded. This procedure is as difficult as it is expensive. Our replacement part consists of screw-fixed individual parts – meaning that the easily-damaged ball races can be individually replaced with limited effort,” explains Alexander Maier, Managing Director of PW Parts.
Replaceable ball races for simple maintenance
“As with many wear parts, in this case even small issues can have major consequences – even the highest-quality manufacturers of agricultural machinery are not immune to such wear damage,” says Maier. A replacement rotor from the Augsburg online merchant costs less than 1,000 euro, and every ball race can be easily removed and individually replaced thanks to the screw mountings. The machine is back in operation very quickly and costs are kept to a minimum: a replacement ball race costs a mere EUR 95.20.
Making high-quality machines even more ready for operation
The detailed changes were developed by PW Parts’ own engineers – since only long-term operation of a combine harvester can show which locations are in need of further improvements. “While the original manufacturer is obliged to focus on the construction of the entire machine, we are able to work closely with farmers to optimise individual components. This ability allows those involved – whether in agriculture or for repairs – to reduce their costs enormously,” says Alexander Maier from PW Parts. The company does, however, recommend that its own complete rotor be installed during the first replacement, as the newly-developed ball races cannot be mounted on the original part.
PW Parts GmbH (www.pwparts.de) offers an online shop for replacement parts for combine harvesters. Whether for repair companies or farmers, the company based near Augsburg offers its own original-quality replacement parts for all common models. A team of engineers improves components such as louver sieves or shakers in order to remove possible restrictions on their lifespans. Short delivery times from a warehouse in Germany and significant price advantages help the improved replacement parts to stand out. PW Parts also offers many other individual parts for combine harvesters and field choppers.
