More than 1.3 Million Swiss Francs Raised through Watch Crowdfunding: DuBois et fils
DuBois et fils: financing is almost completed – last chance for other investors
Le Locle, January 9, 2013 – A total of almost 1.4 million Swiss francs has been raised by the oldest watch factory in Switzerland, DuBois et fils (www.duboisfils.ch), as part of an investment crowdfunding campaign with the participation of international watch entrepreneurs. Thus, in January 2013 the target of 1.5 million Swiss francs is almost reached – one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns in Europe. Besides the close relation between investors and the company DuBois offers another advantage: the profitability of a luxurious watch brand that generated enormous interest among investors. The project is approaching its completion stage; yet, a few other investors still have the opportunity to join in. The interest in the products is skyrocketing: “We have already orders for watches from around the world. In addition, we are proud to have won nearly 200 people from 14 countries as investors,” says Thomas Steinemann, the managing director of DuBois.
A completely new collection is going into production this year. Two models have already been presented to the public – concept ONE and concept TWO. Other models are under preparation and will be presented shortly, including a collection equipped with historic watch movements from the storage of DuBois et fils. The first two mechanical chronographs offer precision, love for the detail, and precisely manufacured Swiss watch movements. “This has been DuBois et fils’ basic principle of work since 1785, and we are committed to continue this tradition,” says Thomas Steinemann. Owners of one of the crowdfunding packages of 500 to 10,000 Swiss francs enjoy considerable discounts on the watches – one of the benefits of investing in a particularly exciting market. In 2011 only Germans alone spent almost three billion euros on luxury watches and jewelry. All editions of DuBois et fils are limited to 99 pieces.
DuBois et fils has therefore confirmed the theory that the participation of watch entrepreneurs and potential investors was the right strategy: “There was neither experience nor statistical data that could serve as guiding landmarks. Our objective was the integration of the market as our own brand ambassadors who are also a part of the company. Crowdfunding turned out to be the only viable way,” says the watch expert Steinemann. Experience in brand launching and product design as well as numerous consulting mandates with leading watch manufacturers allow Thomas Steinemann to guide the company with the long history of almost 225 years to a new future.

Philippe DuBois & Fils SA (www.duboisfils.ch) is the oldest watch factory in Switzerland. Since 1785 watches have been sold under that name. For 2013, a new collection of quality watches with strict limitations is planned. In addition to that, watch lovers have the unique opportunity to be part of DuBois et fils. They are able to acquire shares of the factory at a discount model by a crowd funding project. Different packages enable the costumers to enter the world of watches. A professional team headed by CEO Thomas Steinemann designs the watch collection, continuing the tradition of DuBois et fils.
